FEATURES OF CROCHET BLANKET EDGING

Crochet blanket edging often becomes difficult for many people. Let’s have a look at the method to crochet the border of a blanket which is already crocheted except for the border.

METHOD

The pattern, colour of the yarn and the yarn type is selected first before crocheting the border. The colour similar to the blanket or a contrast colour can be chosen. All the crocheted squares should be joined together before beginning work on the border. The yarn needs to be attached to the upper corner from where one wants to start working. The crocheting edging pattern is worked across the top row first and then turned a corner. For single crochet stitch, two chain stitches can be employed to turn the corner or three single crochet stitches in each corner. After this is accomplished stitches need to be placed evenly down the side of the blanket. The number of stitches on both sides of the blanket should be similar. When a side is finished its time to turn a corner again and the process is repeated.

Following this working is done into the free loops of each chain stitch in the foundation chain after which the working is done on the other side of the blanket. When working is finished all around the blanket a slip stitch can be worked to connect the end of the round to the beginning. Now the second round of border pattern work is commenced.

This was a method of crochet blanket edging.
