Knit baby blanket to keep your bundle of joy warm and comfortable

Knitting a baby blanket can be a very rewarding project as seeing your bundle of joy in your own creation can be invigorating. As the size of a baby blanket is small it will not take long to knit. Select a design from the knit baby blanket patterns and start knitting but make sure that the yarn should be soft washable acrylic yarn that will work wonders for the baby’s sensitive skin.

A baby blanket can be knitted with an attached hood to keep the baby snuggly warm in winters.  Baby blankets can be made in either one single color or you can even experiment with many different colors. Pastel shades like baby blue, baby pink, lemon and white look really cute. Stitches used can be garter stitch, stocking stitch, box stitch or any lacy design.  Motifs like bunnies or chicks can be knitted using the intarsia method to make a lovely blanket. At times circular needles need to be used to accommodate a large number of stitches. A petal pattern can be worked on circular needles and can be completed quickly. Cables can be knitted alternating it with scallops to give a balanced look to the blanket. A red and white blanket knitted in squares with a border using chenille yarn will be perfect for a newborn as its softness will not irritate the soft skin of the baby. One thing to be considered is that the size of the blanket should be big enough for wrapping.
